25mm (1") Nismo Rear Sway Bar
In 1977 the Japanese S31 Fairlady Z shipped with a 25mm rear sway bar as an option from the factory.
Nissan Part# 55611-E4622 - 25mm
Although extremely rare (and extremely stiff) I stumbled across one on eBay and snatched it up.
Most kits that are available for the S30 chassis today are around 20mm. Adding 25% to the diameter of the bar increases the stiffness dramatically. Since I am crazy about rare parts, I totally had to get it.
There isn't really even any information on this part online. Just a couple posts on HybridZ and most of them are from me asking about it!
The beast:
It turns out that this bar actually mounts from in front of the differential. Every aftermarket bar I have seen, on the other hand, mounts from behind.
While trying to figure out how to install it, I tossed it on around the back like any aftermarket RSB.
As you can see, it doesn't line up correctly.
A lot of people seem to think that this is too much bar for the street.
I will be sure to let you know.
Special Thanks to the folks at HybridZ for digging up the image at the top and info about the part and how to mount it properly.
(and for laughing at me for trying to install it backwards and upside down haha)
I will post pics from the successful test fitting later.

Barramundi Design S30 Z - pt.2
Found these pics of the build process for the Barramundi S30z.
Very cool.
Gnarly rotary. Looks like a 20b.
Cleaning up the engine bay.
Very cool that they posted some progress pics. I am still waiting to hear from Nori at Common Snapper about those wheels.
The world needs these.

New stuff!
Met a fellow ZCCNE member yesterday and picked up a 1975 280z fuel tank. Halfway through 1976 Datsun made the switch to a half sized spare in the rear hatch, so anything newer and I would have had to cut out the tire well.
This tank will work with my current carb setup, and with the L28ET that I have finally decided to swap in later this year.
I have read that the 75 tank also has the bonus of a little more fuel capacity and better baffling than that of the 73 240z tank.
A quick benchpress test fit confirmed that she would bolt up with no issues.
John from ZCCNE knows a good tank guy, so this will be in his hands for a cleaning and sealing soon enough.
I have been dying to start collecting parts for the swap.
So it begins.

Barramundi Design S30 Z - pt.1
By FAR the most inspiring Z I have come across in a long time.
A lights out 3 Rotor build with fender exit exhausts.
And the dopest set of forged wheels I have ever seen.
Feel the impact.
Absolutely without a doubt going to do everything I can to get a set.
I will be posting more on this AMAZING s30 over the next couple of days.
If you can't wait, go find more at CommonSnapper.com.

Back to work
Finally pulled off the exhaust and cut out that GHETTO fuel line, zip ties and all.
One less fire hazard.
Got in my dirt cheap OEM replacement Brake master cylinder from RockAuto.
And my OEM replacement Re-manufactured Sumitomo 2-piston calipers.
I know a lot of people go with the 84 Toyota 4Runner brake upgrade because it is a 4-piston set, but just as many people say that the stock brakes were good enough up to approximately 300+ WHP. Since I am absolutely nowhere near that, I decided to see for myself.
I will be running the Sumitomo stockies on slotted and vented rotors with EBC green stuff pads, all new lines and cylinders.
We will see how she does, and make any further modifications and upgrades based on that as a braking performance base-line.

Back from Vacation...
Wishing I wasn't.
The cape was the bomb. Nothing but chillin.
Can't wait to get back to work on my Z.
This will be playing in my garage.
Also, I am looking for a replacement gas tank!
If you know someone who has one in good shape hit me up about it. Looking for EFI tank from before they changed the shape (6/76) so 74/75 is good.
Thanks!

It's that time...
It's that time of the year again!
Heading to the Cape for a week! Leaving first thing tomorrow morning.
We'll be chillin on the beach by lunch time.
You aren't going to be hearing much from me until I get back.
There's usually a bunch of British roadsters buzzing around down there. If I see anything noteworthy I'll snap a quickie and post it up.
Until then.. Chillbot engage.

Brake shopping
Finally picked up a proper flare-nut wrench set from Sears yesterday and was able to blast my 40 year old brake lines off of my half seized calipers.
Only a few more hard lines to do before they are all 100% new.
The word on the street is that the stock 240z calipers were built to sustain much more horsepower than the car originally produces, eventhough it is only a two piston caliper.
That, paired with the weight/cost of a major brake upgrade has convinced me to replace with re-manufactured stockies.
Found a good source for stock replacement calipers and master-cylinders.
I will post them up if the transaction goes smoothly.

For Sale: 100% Electric Datsun 240Z????
Found this on my local Craigslist! I can't believe this thing is so close.
Someone buy this so I can see it!
Quoted from Craigslist:
"A one of a kind! 1970 Datsun 240zev. This vehicle has been converted to 100% electric. Body and interior have been restored. Car looks brand new. Cool new rims and tires. All new batteries. There is no other car like this in the world. The car gets around 20 miles on a full charge and can travel up to 75 miles per hour. The car is "road legal" and has an inspection sticker. Car was fully painted and new interior was installed this year. Presently the car is running, but needs some minor electrical work. Unfortunately I do not have the time to maintain the car the way that it should be, so it deserves a new home. Much more than the asking price has been put into the restoration of the vehicle. This is a steal!"

I'm totally going to try and contact this kid to get some more pics.

OMG!
I'm sorry... I didn't know anybody was living here!!
1.
2.
3.
THREE mouse nests in my car. I bet this is some kind of record.
Pulled out all of the interior panel pieces in the rear.
Pulled my crappy broken antenna.
Thanking my lucky stars that there was no rust in the body pocket below the antenna hole.
No real rust in the tire well!
Mouse free!
And I did my best to tear out the weather stripping from the rear hatch. I need to get something with some form of weather protection. I think this stripping actually added water to the interior when it rained.
