and 2x BZ3015.

I'm also heading over to a friends house today to drop off some parts and sand blast some stuff. (My ball joints were a bitch to get apart from my steering knuckles)

From Z2

I have a small pile of suspension and mounting parts to blast and repaint.

From Z2

He has a blast cabinet which is ideal for this sort of thing. I would blast them right out in the open but it would make a ridiculous mess.

I will post after blast pics tomorrow.

Things to come.

Drove out to Ashby, MA to look at a motor that a friend of a friends, father's father had in in his garage.

This place was WAAAAAY out in the sticks. I had no idea there were still areas like that in Massachusetts. Felt like I was back home in Vermont.

Anyway, I wish I took pictures of the place. The whole trip was surreal.
If all goes well, you should be seeing that motor soon enough.

While out in the area, I couldn't help but swing by my favorite place in the world...

Harbor freight.

Picked up a 1-ton engine hoist for $100. This is the best deal you will ever find. got the coupon out of the last issue of Super Street. Check it out.

It was a major pain in the ass putting this thing together.

From Z

That "CAUTION:" card literally says, "Be careful not follow the instructions, but instead, do it like this."

From Z

I actually had to have my girlfriend help me put this thing together lol!
I should be ashamed of myself. :(

Thanks hun!

From Z

BAM! Ready for action.

We have a date!

From Z

I have been dying to pull the motor out of this thing. The engine bay needs major love and the mounts for that and the tranny are all but completely disintegrated.

Much more fun stuff to come.

New stuff!

Met a fellow ZCCNE member yesterday and picked up a 1975 280z fuel tank. Halfway through 1976 Datsun made the switch to a half sized spare in the rear hatch, so anything newer and I would have had to cut out the tire well.

From Z

This tank will work with my current carb setup, and with the L28ET that I have finally decided to swap in later this year.

I have read that the 75 tank also has the bonus of a little more fuel capacity and better baffling than that of the 73 240z tank.

From Z

A quick benchpress test fit confirmed that she would bolt up with no issues.

John from ZCCNE knows a good tank guy, so this will be in his hands for a cleaning and sealing soon enough.

I have been dying to start collecting parts for the swap.

From Z

So it begins.

Back to work

Finally pulled off the exhaust and cut out that GHETTO fuel line, zip ties and all.

One less fire hazard.

Got in my dirt cheap OEM replacement Brake master cylinder from RockAuto.

From Z

And my OEM replacement Re-manufactured Sumitomo 2-piston calipers.

From Z

I know a lot of people go with the 84 Toyota 4Runner brake upgrade because it is a 4-piston set, but just as many people say that the stock brakes were good enough up to approximately 300+ WHP. Since I am absolutely nowhere near that, I decided to see for myself.

I will be running the Sumitomo stockies on slotted and vented rotors with EBC green stuff pads, all new lines and cylinders.

We will see how she does, and make any further modifications and upgrades based on that as a braking performance base-line.
