Driving in the past...

Just saw this article posted on A Class.

It's called "Living In The Moment, Is Driving The Past"

It's about classic Japanese cars and what they represent to the scene. Really thought provoking stuff.

Here's a snippet...

"So despite beating the dead horse of environmental malarky we’ve all grown too accustomed to hearing, there’s a lot to savor. It’s a message to anyone who loves cars and loves driving. Just enjoy it. Spend as much time on it as possible. Buy that car of your dreams and raise hell in it. To live in the moment is the best way to live because you don’t know what you’ve got, until it’s gone."

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the pieces.

Ground Control Coilover kit with Eibach 200# Fronts and 225# Rears. 10" springs (free length) and 6" threaded aluminum tubes. The weld-on lower perches look very substantial, and the adjustable perches have an allen key locking mechanism. Very nice set.

I am super excited to get working on my suspension setup.
A friend of mine has offered to help with the welding.

Keep an eye out for a full write up!

Nostalgic 2 Days 2011 Video

Been working. Nothing fun, just stripping and prepping.

I spoke to a friend about hiring some Mexicans to help strip this fucker.

Still working on the details lol.

Snagged this vid from Kyusha Kai.
It pretty much embodies everything I love about the Nostalgic Scene.

Check.

Undercoating

I've been super busy lately with work so I haven't made much progress on the build.

I did however manage to spend 5+ hours this past Monday (Presidents Day) stripping under coating and I'm still only half done.

Super shitty cell phone pic of destruction!

From Z2

I have been softening it up by slathering it with chemical stripper and letting it sit.

It comes off fairly easy after ward but will make a complete mess of you.

I do not recommend doing it this way but I am extremely "winter lazy" and simply cannot bring myself to do any really hard work. I have however been wearing the proper protective gear so I don't acid burn my eyeballs.

So many options...

Tons of actual paint chips in here.
Lots of colors to research... Damn this is tough.

Color testing

I've been spending a lot of time lately considering my options for color.

Since it is relatively difficult to know what you like until you see it, I started spray bombing my car.

From Z2

This color is Rustoleum's high Performance Graphite Metallic wheel paint.

I used this same paint on the centers of my ZX wheels and I liked how it covered and looked.

A touch too light for what I was looking for.

Looking to see if I can find anyone local that owns a Gen 5 Maxima in KV3 "Grey Lustre".

The shitty pics I have been able to find online look very promising.
