Hopes and Dreams...

Feeling the need to start major work on my Engine bay (thanks to inZane240's immaculate work).

I Started pulling parts.

First to go were the old brake master cyl. and brake booster.

From Z

The Clutch cyl.

From Z

The distributor, spark wires and ignitor were next.

From Z

Pulled the grille off.

From Z

And started to hook her up!

From Z

Jacked the hoist up until it lifted some of the weight off of the motor mounts.

From Z

I placed a jack under the transmission bell housing to lift the weight off of the tranny mount.

From Z

Then I unbolted and dropped the tranny mount.

From Z

Having the jack under the transmission just give you a little bit more control when going to lift the motor out. For one person it becomes necessary to quickly adjust the front load and rear load levels and this just helps a lot.

From Z

Going up!

From Z

Make sure you have enough ceiling height to pull a motor before you just go ahead and do it. I had JUST barely enough, but I had to lower the front end of the car to get the oil pan and transmission to clear.

From Z

Finally out!

From Z

HIYAA!

From Z

I just tossed the motor on the rug. (lol)

From Z

Also got to pull out the wiring harness.

From Z

And finally got under her to gut all the hard lines.

From Z

Piece of cake right?

From Z

Dirty.

Z-Car Racing Team Montain Race 2005 (More footage!)

Here another compilation of videos of the Swiss Z-Car racing team from the 2005 season.

Check it.

Z Car Racing Team - Switzerland

Here is some more info on the car I posted yesterday.
295ps converts to 290hp.

Not bad for a 2800cc motor (L28).

I wanna know how they got it revving to 9800 rpm!!! That is unbelievable for an L-series motor.

Looks like the swiss know something I don't! (not surprised)

Consider your goals...

I've been thinking a lot about what I want my end product to be.

From DirtyS30

Now that I am a couple weeks away from finishing breakdown, I am finding myself contemplating color schemes and horsepower/torque goals, what materials to use for certain custom components etc.

From DirtyS30

Not too much planning required for a tear down. At least not from a technical perspective. But a build up needs to be properly calculated from the start.

From DirtyS30

Big thanks to my friends for fielding my random questions and providing their unique points of view.

From DirtyS30

After a lot of consideration I have decided to build an identical replica of this car.

lol. Too ambitious? heh

Rocky Auto Carbon S30 Z Hits the track! - Video

As all of you know I am a major Rocky Auto fan boy.

Everything they touch turns to gold.

Here they take their Carbon fiber RB26 powered to the race track.
First video I've seen of her stretching her legs.

Triples due for a rebuild

Decided to start pulling my triples apart while I am waiting for money to take my block and head to the machine shop.

From Z

I removed all nuts and bolts except for the two on each end of the header so I could remove the intake manifold and not have to worry about my header dropping onto the floor.

From Z

Pulled the header and noticed that the exhaust ports were square, as I had suspected per the Google.

From Z

My MN47 head has round exhaust ports but when I line it all up, it appears that the round exhaust ports actually fit inside the square ports without any (or very little) overlapping/restriction.

From Z

This exhaust port as you can probably tell had a square port exhaust manifold attached from the stock N42 head that shipped with my 1975 280z L28.

From Z

I will do more research to figure out whether or not a little modification will be needed to maximize throughput.

My triples, ready for some love.

From Z

My square port Hooker Super Comp 6-2-1 header.

From Z

Once I got my carburetors on the operating table i pulled the throttle linkage and fuel lines.

From Z

Immediately I noticed corrosion on my #5-6 fuel inlet.

From Z

When I removed the access cover I inspected my floats and they appeared to be in good shape. All of the seals appear to be in tact. I still have to measure and adjust them as I can see that they are not all within spec.

From Z

This is a view from the top. There is quite a bit of sediment inside all three of my carburetors. Definitely in for a rebuild and cleaning of all components.

From Z

External hardware for throttle linkage, fuel inlets, and my filthy venturis.

From Z

Got my work cut out for me.

From Z

Wish me luck lol.

Random acts of Wrenching

So my buddy Zeead needed to swap his rotors.

From Z

From Z

From Z

Ahad showed up... or did he?

From Z

Me checking to see if Zeead is breathing.

From Z
